Executive Assistant to Entrepreneur

For many years, the idea of becoming an entrepreneur never crossed my mind. I was content providing high-level administrative support to executives—some who were truly inspiring, and others, less so. Yet, as time went on, the desire for continuous growth and a solution-driven mindset ignited a new passion within me, urging me to seek more than what the status quo offered.

In my experiences, I often encountered situations where solutions were available but never implemented. This left me feeling dissatisfied, knowing deep down that things could be better. The inefficiencies and poor time management of others—the frantic last-minute presentations—were sources of immense frustration. It felt like throwing, well, "crap" against the wall and hoping something would stick. Although, if I'm honest, I would use a stronger word than "crap."

Supporting some of the best executives, I was seen as a strategic partner and a sounding board. They understood the value of an Executive Assistant (EA) and how my role could enhance their work and streamline their operations. Unfortunately, not all executives shared this view. Some treated EAs as overpriced secretaries, devoid of respect or recognition. They lacked the empathy expressed in the popular quote, “I treat the janitor the same way as I treat the CEO.” Instead, they were cold, stoic, and dismissive.

As an EA who aspired to more, I saw myself as an equal to those I supported, deserving of respect for my skills and contributions. I am halfway through a Master’s degree and hold a Lean Six Sigma certification. My ambition for continuous growth and a defined career path pointed me towards the role of Chief of Staff. However, these positions are few and far between.

This realization led to the birth of Trinity Operations, a virtual assistance business. I made the decision not to wait for others to grant me the promotion, compensation, and respect I deserved. Instead, I chose to forge my path—one not limited by the mediocrity some were content with.

Trinity Operations represents more than just a business; it is the embodiment of taking charge of my future. It is a testament to the power of recognizing one's worth and the courage to step into the unknown. Through this venture, I aim to provide the same strategic support and partnership to businesses that I offered in my EA roles, but on my own terms.

This journey from Executive Assistant to entrepreneur has been transformative. It has taught me the value of self-belief and the courage it takes to step outside of one's comfort zone. The leap from a secure role to the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship wasn't easy, but it was necessary for my personal and professional growth.

The early days of Trinity Operations were filled with challenges—navigating the complexities of setting up a business, learning the ropes of marketing, and establishing a client base from scratch. However, each challenge was an opportunity to learn and refine my skills, reinforcing my belief that I was on the right path. The thrill of creating something from the ground up, the autonomy to make decisions, and the direct impact of my efforts were immensely rewarding.

In building Trinity Operations, I was guided by the same principles that had driven me as an EA: efficiency, strategic thinking, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. I wanted to offer more than just administrative support; I envisioned a service where clients would have a true partner in achieving their business goals. Whether it’s streamlining processes, managing projects, or ensuring seamless operations, Trinity Operations is dedicated to providing high-caliber support that empowers businesses to thrive.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been connecting with other entrepreneurs and small business owners. It’s a supportive community where experiences and insights are shared, and collaboration is welcomed. These connections have enriched my understanding of business and leadership, and they continue to inspire me.

Looking back, the transition from Executive Assistant to entrepreneur was a pivotal moment that redefined my career. It taught me that sometimes dissatisfaction is a necessary catalyst for change. The decision to embark on this entrepreneurial journey was rooted in a desire for growth, respect, and the freedom to shape my destiny.

As I continue to build and expand Trinity Operations, I am reminded of the importance of trusting oneself and the vision one holds. The road of entrepreneurship is fraught with risks and uncertainties, but it is also ripe with possibilities and the potential for immense fulfillment.

For anyone contemplating a similar leap, my advice is simple: believe in your ability to rise above the status quo and create the life and career you envision. Embrace the challenges, learn from every experience, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. Your journey, like mine, can lead to places you never imagined, and the rewards can be beyond what you ever thought possible.
